Northern Television Center Awards

THIS JUST IN! The Northern Television Center's signature sports magazine program, "Top Shelf Sports," has received a Student Production Nomination from the Television Academy, the producers of the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards. The Academy's 2009 Emmy Award Ceremony itself is being held on November 7th in Chicago. Good Luck, NTC!

Our students are proud that once again in 2009 the Illinois Broadcasters Association has recognized their achievements in broadcast journalism excellence. The Northern Television Center won an IBA Student Silver Dome First Place Award for Outstanding Television Sports Package. NTC students also received Finalist Awards for Best TV News Package and for Best TV Longform Programming, for our "Top Shelf Sports" program. A year ago, in 2008, NTC won three IBA Student Silver Dome Finalist Awards for Longform TV News Production, for "Top Shelf Sports,"  and for Best TV Newscast.  And in 2007, Sheena Elzie (2007 graduate) was honored with the First Place Award for Outstanding TV News Reporting, an individual prize.
