Laboratory Visits 

The following tours are planned on Thursday, July 26th after the conference proper.  Participants can arrange to stay the additional night of July 26th, or check out in the morning of 26th and leave their luggage in storage at the conference facility while on the tours.  Box lunches can be made available at the participant's expense.  Transportation will be arranged for UMD and UPenn - there may be small charge for this.  However, participants may arrange their own transportation.

Option 1a (JHU) and 1b (UMD) are designed such that both can be done, while Option 2 or Option 3 would exclude the other visits.

Option 1a: John Hopkins University laboratories- 8:30am to 11:00am
Participating laboratories- Laboratoy for Computational Sensing and Robotics (LCSR), a "meta lab" which includes the Locomotion in Mechanical and Biological Systems (LIMBS) Lab, the Computer Integrated Interventional Systems (CIIS) Lab, Dynamical Systems and Control (DSC) Lab, Robot and Protein Kinematics (RPK) Lab, Computational Interaction and Robotics Lab (CIRL), and Computer Integrated Surgery (CIS) ERC.  Still some place available.  Please contact Dr. Roger D. Option 1b: University of Maryland- 12:30pm to 3:00pm
Participating laboratories- Maryland Robotics Center.  The center's research activities include all aspects of robotics including development of component technologies (e.g., sensors, actuators, structures, and communication), novel robotic platforms, and intelligence and autonomy for robotic systems.  Still some place available.  Please contact Dr. Roger D. Eastman via email (reastman@loyola.edu) or upon your arrival.

Option 2: University of Pennsylvania- 8:00am to 4:00pm
Participating laboratories- PR2-Plan Lab, Haptics Lab/Da Vinci, Object Detection Demo, Darwin-OP Demo, UAVs and Swarming, and ModLab.  Still some place available.  Please contact Dr. Roger D. Eastman via email (reastman@loyola.edu) or upon your arrival.  First come first serve basis.

Option 3: National Institute of Standards and Technology- 9:00am to 12:00noon
Participating laboratory- Performance Metrics and Test Arena for Autonomous Mobile Robots.  At this moment US citizens only.  Also you are responsible for your transportation to NIST.  Please contact Dr. Roger V. Boltelman ASAP (roger.bostelman@nist.gov).
