Title: AlphaDog, the Rough-Terrain Robot
Abstract: AlphaDog is a quadruped robot being developed with funding from DARPA's Legged Squad Support System program. The goal is to provide a machine that can carry 400 lbs of payload on 20-mile, 24-hour missions. It must have significant rough-terrain mobility, follow a human leader in natural outdoor terrain, be quiet (quieter than BigDog) and pick itself up whenever it falls. We began testing AlphaDog this past January 2012 and plan extensive field tests starting in the Fall. This talk will give a status report on AlphaDog and the other dynamic robots being developed at Boston Dynamics.
