If you answered yes to any of the above questions you should attend the NIU Global Leadership & Philanthropy Camp and advance your knowledge of the larger world around you.

The camp will treat you as a future global leader and philanthropist. It will develop your understanding of the world, help strengthen your personal skills, and challenge you to work with others in a variety of creative activities involving leadership, global issues and philanthropy. The camp will also develop a plan of action and provide resources for students interested in becoming leaders in their local communities or on a global issue after camp is over. Camp will culminate with a fun field trip/volunteer day that will highlight and apply everything that has been covered during the week.

Summer Camp Fees: Residential campers $595 ($650 after June 3, 2016)

Camp Director: Julie Ann Read, M.Ed., is experienced in non-for-profits and is currently working on a doctorate in adult education. She also has experience coaching and mentoring teenagers and is the mother of two high school students.

Housing and Security
Campers will stay in an on-campus residence hall. Campers may request a roommate, however, if they have no preference, roommates will be assigned from the same camp, of the same gender, and of approximately the same age. Male and female counselors reside on the same floor as the campers in a ratio of at least one counselor for every 13 campers. Each room has two beds, two desks, and closet with drawer space, AC unit, microwave and mini fridge. Linens and pillows are NOT supplied. Students must bring their own pillows, sleeping bags, linens, towels, etc.

Security is tight in the residence hall at night, and keys are needed for the elevators to gain access to the floors. The residence hall will be locked down at 11 p.m. Campers must not lose their keys. Replacement keys are billed to the parent/guardian at a cost of $160.00 per occurrence.
