NIU Film Camp
July 6th- 11th, 2008



Do you want to…
•   be on camera?
•   learn how to shoot video?
•   edit a short movie?
•   make a music video?
•   direct a short film?
•   have a video on YOUTUBE?

If you said “Yes” to any of the above then this is the camp for you.

As a camper, you will work with experienced media producers / camera operators and directors while learning the basics of digital video production from storyboard to DVD. By the end of the camp, each camper will have their own DVD to share with family and friends.

Here is a brief list of what campers will learn:
•   Storyboard and Treatments; Coming up with an idea.
•   Camera Operation and Shooting techniques and styles
•   Editing for video using Apple Editing Software
•   Video Production Aesthetics
•   DVD Production and Creation

Here is what you may choose to make:
•   Music Video
•   Short Experimental Film
•   Sitcom Episode
•   Commercial
•   Or anything else you may come up with…

Who should attend?
Film Camp is for students who have completed grades 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12.

Fees
Residential campers $495 ($525 after June 1, 2008); returning LA&S Academic Summer campers are eligible for a $25 discount on request. Register now for this new and exciting camp! Film Camp Director:
Michael Gentile, is an Instructor of Media production courses at NIU and a freelance videographer. He has his Master’s in Media Studies and over 10 years of production experience. He has also made an award winning documentary, music videos, athletic highlight reels, instructional videos, and worked on independent films like the 2007 Anthony Hopkins film, “Slipstream,” where he interned with the camera crew for production.
