If you said “Yes” to any of the above, then this is the camp for you.
As a camper, you will work with experienced media producers / camera operators and directors while learning the basics of digital video production from storyboard to DVD. By the end of the camp, each camper will have their own DVD to share with family and friends.
Here is a brief list of what campers will learn:
• Storyboard and Treatments: Coming up with an Idea.
• Camera Operation and Shooting Techniques and Styles
• Editing for Video Using Apple Editing Software
• Video Production Aesthetics
• DVD Production and Creation
Here is what you may choose to make:
• Music Video
• Short Experimental Film
• Sitcom Episode
• Commercial
• Or anything else you may come up with…
Film Camp Director:
Michael Corvino is an Instructor of Media production courses at NIU and a freelance videographer. He has his Master’s in Media Studies and over 10 years of production experience. He also has made an award-winning documentary, music videos, athletic highlight reels, instructional videos, and worked on independent films like the 2007 Anthony Hopkins film, Slipstream, where he interned with the camera crew for production.
Summer Camp Fees: Residential campers $515 ($545 after June 1, 2012); returning LA&S Academic Summer campers, multiple campers from the same household, or NIU employees are eligible for an additional $25 discount on request.
