Jolene Skinner’s decisions have the power to change the lives of over 60,000 people.
As Senior Consultant in Global Talent Management at Dell, she led the redesign of Dell’s global employee survey that taps into the voice of employees, allowing them to help shape the culture of Dell. Over 80 percent of employees take the annual survey that is used to identify critical priorities that drive employee engagement.
In addition, she co-chairs the Work-Life team in WISE (Women in Search of Excellence), Dell’s women’s networking group. Her team has helped dramatically increase flexibility for workers across the globe. She wrote the first ever work-life survey that is used to identify employee needs and to understand how Dell can enhance work-life effectiveness in all cultures and in all countries.
As part of the process, Skinner has utilized human resource metrics and analytics to enhance accountability for Dell’s top leaders. In 2008, the Work-Life team successfully landed a spot in Working Mother’s Top 100 U.S. Companies. Most recently, she is facilitating a class for female employees, Taking the Stage, which helps women strengthen their executive presentation skills.
Skinner also finds the time for her own professional development. She is currently the Executive Committee CE Chair of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She received SPHR (human resources) certification in 2008 and is on the Board for the Association of Women in Technology, Austin.
