Iowa State team, including NIU professor, gets grant for biomass pretreatment research

"The Iowa Energy Center recently awarded three grants to research projects focused on improving thermochemical conversion of biomass to biofuels and renewable chemicals. The selected projects will receive one-year research and demonstration grants with negotiated renewal terms of up to three years. First-Ever Study Confirms Dispatcher Stress Disorders

Reality Bytes prepares to screen 15 films at annual film festival

After considering nearly 100 untries to the festival, Reality Bytes is screening 12 films from college students and 3 films from high school students. Following the screenings awards will be presented to the best film in each category: documentary, fiction, and high school entries.

The films are a mix of documentary and fiction shorts, each coming in at under 30 minutes long. Screenings will take place on April 10 and 11 from 9 p.m. - 10:45 p.m. in Cole Auditorium. On Thursday, guest speaker and alumnus Wil hernandez will speak at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, a post-festival celebration will be held at O'Leary's in DeKalb. 


Karli Johnson Receives $1,000 scholarship for class project

Karli Johnson, (BA, 2011) submitted her After Effects animation produced in COMS 496M to the Victor E. and Me Find Your Match contest.  Karli won a $1000 scholarship for her entry. You can watch her winning entry on YouTube right here.
