The Family Therapy Clinic of NIU offers the Prepare/Enrich Program

The Prepare/Enrich program can be an essential tool for working successfully with premarital, cohabitating, and married couples.  These assessments were scientifically developed and rigorously tested for both reliability and validity, with excellent results.  They are designed to assist counselors and couples in focusing objectively on critical relationship issues.  Each inventory is intended to assess areas in which relationships need to grow and strengths that will enable them to progress in a positive direction.

The inventories are multi-dimensional, and focus on several significant and common issues that impact couples and their relationships such as relationship expections, communication, and financial management, to name a few.

Five Assessments are Available

• Prepare is designed for couples marrying who do not have children
• Prepare-MC is designed for couples planning to marry who have children
• Prepare-CC is designed for cohabitating couples planning to marry
• Enrich is designed for married couples seeking couple enrichment or counseling
• Mate is designed for couples 50 years or older planning to marry or facing other life transitions (retirement or relocation, etc.)

Cost/Time Involved

The assessments are completed at the Family Therapy Clinic of NIU.  It takes an hour to complete an assessment.  The cost for an assessment is $35.00 per couple.  Follow-up services are scheduled and those costs will be determined by a sliding fee scale. Services at the Family Therapy Clinic of NIU are affordable for clients, and no one is turned away for an inability to pay.
