Inaugural Alumni Assembly: April 17–18, 2008 Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Thank you alumni and friends for a successful event!
The NIU Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry welcomed over twenty alumni back to campus with a reception on Thursday, April 17, and our Inaugural Alumni Assembly on Friday, April 18, 2008.
There was plenty to talk and reminisce about for the group of twenty‐four alumni, whose years of graduation ranged from 1956 to 2007, and degrees ranged from Bachelor of Science to Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry. Many of the department's faculty and staff, as well as, emeritus faculty joined the alumni group throughout the days' festivities.

President John Peters welcomed the alumni group to campus
Joe Vaughn, professor emeritus, shared a wonderful History of the Department
Jon Carnahan, professor and chair, presented on the State of the Department
Graduate students Matthew Sheets, Elliott Franco, and Adam Dill gave excellent talks on their current research
Tours of Altgeld Hall and Faraday/Faraday West were available to attendees
