Congratulations to Anne Barrett Swanson (B.S., 1970) and to Mary J. Wirth (B.S., 1974) for earning Distinguished Alumnus honors from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Swanson earned her B.S. in Chemistry in 1970 and went on to earn her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1975.
Dr. Wirth graduated in 1974 with her B.S. in Chemistry and continued her education at Purdue University, receiving her Ph.D. in 1979.
Anne Barrett Swanson (B.S., 1970) visited her alma mater and delivered a presentation entitled, Reflections on the Journey: From NIU Chemistry and Biochemistry to Careers. Preceeded by a brief reception, faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students gathered to hear Anne speak about her life experiences.
Congratulations to Malcolm J. D'Souza (M.S., 1989; Ph.D., 1992), the recipient of the 2012 E. Emmet Reid Award in Chemistry Teaching at Small Colleges in the ACS Middle Atlantic Region. Malcolm obtained his masters and doctoral degrees under the direction of Professor Dennis N. Kevill. (April 2012)
