Mechanical Engineering

The combination of exciting projects and engaging courses taught by distinguished faculty in a state-of-the-art facility has made the Department of Mechanical Engineering the choice for a growing number of students looking to start or advance their engineering careers.

Your classes cover the fundamentals of systems and components used in manufacturing, energy conversion and various types of solid and fluid mechanics. These skills will prepare you for jobs in the robotics, automotive, computer-aided design/manufacturing and machine-based fields, just to name a few.

Our approach goes beyond the classroom and laboratory with numerous opportunities for you to intern at regional industries, giving you unparalleled real-life experiences. You’ll also be encouraged to get involved with the challenging Baja Mini Racing Car, Formula Car and Airplane Design projects.

For your Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, you will choose from one of three emphases – Advanced Computing and Simulation, Mechatronics and Robotics, or Sustainable Energy. In our Master of Science (M.S.) program, your creative and analytical skills are challenged to design a specialized component or system to address an industry need.
