The college offers nearly 100 continuing education courses, to more than 1,500 students each year.
The college has Higher Education Cooperation Act partnerships with University of Illinois, Rock Valley College, City Colleges of Chicago, and other community colleges in manufacturing and distance education.
The NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) is divided into four academic departments, each offering a undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S.) programs
Faculty in the college are engaged in a broad array of research sponsored by private industry and agencies such as the National Science Foundation, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory and the State of Illinois.

CEET is housed in three buildings on the main campus in DeKalb. The main CEET building, is just a decade old and boasts large, modern laboratories. Other facilities are housed in some of the oldest, most historic, buildings on campus – Still Hall and Still Gym – but boast the same high caliber laboratories and facilities.
CEET provides students with a wealth of hands-on learning opportunities, featuring 35 laboratories where students can get first-hand experience in areas ranging from digital signal processing, to robotics, to microelectronics to welding.
CEET has 47 full-time faculty, 93 percent of whom hold a doctorate degree, and 70 percent of whom bring real-world industry experience to the classroom. The college also has 55 graduate assistants who teach and conduct research.
