The presentation will also include ways in which teachers can work with students to manage their inattentive, impulsive, and hyperactive symptoms in the classroom as well as how to work with parents to maximize students’ performance

Description: This workshop provides an overview of the scientific findings regarding speech, performance, and social anxiety. Of particular interest for teachers, this session includes a description of empirically-validated interventions and a discussion of techniques that can be implemented by teachers in a classroom setting.

Description: This presentation promotes understanding of how problematic levels of depression may interfere with students’ academic performance. The presentation will also discuss specific symptoms of depression including suicidal ideation, ways these symptoms interfere in students’ interactions in the classroom, and ways in which families and teachers can help.

Description: An introductory session provides an overview of the scientific findings regarding trauma and recovery from trauma in children and adolescents, including a discussion about the symptoms and problems that might be observed in school settings. A second session provides teachers with information about how to address mass trauma, such as how to help students after the death of a student, school violence, or other school tragedy. The introductory session can stand alone, or can be combined with the second session. One-hour is recommended for the introductory session one, and at least two additional hours for second session.

Description: This workshop provides an overview of the scientific findings regarding obsessive-compulsive disorder, including recommendations for how teachers can identify and refer students with obsessive-compulsive disorder, how teachers can address behavior problems related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, and how students can talk to classmates about obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Time required: 1 or 2 hours
