School Transitions

Supporting the Transition to Middle School/Junior High

Description: This workshop provides an overview of the scientific findings regarding the transition to middle school/junior high school including a consideration of the academic and social challenges associated with the transition. The workshop includes recommendations for how teachers and schools can support students academically and socially during this transition.

Consultation on School Transitions

Description: Members of the Northern Illinois University Collaborative on Early Adolescence (NIU-CEA) will provide consultation to individual teachers or groups of teachers as they address issues related to school transitions in their students.
