The Belizean Youth Sport Coalition (BYSC) Project was made possible by a $224,956 grant to the Physical Activity and Life Skills (PALS) Group at NIU from the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The three year grant funds a project to support youth sport organizations in Belize and to integrate youth development into the Belizean programs and coaching practices.
The BYSC Project is a two-way exchange that involves training for program directors and coaches, as well as ongoing consulting and evaluation. The Belize delegation traveled to the United States in February 2014 and the US delegation returned in March 2014 from their visit to Belize.
Materials currently available include the Training Manual, individual Handouts, and Presentations, also accessible by clicking on the links at right.
Dr. Paul Wright, Director of the PALS Group, is the project director. His co-directors include Drs. Jim Ressler and Bill Pitney from the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education as well as Dr. Lina Ong from NIU's Office of International Affairs.
