Memberships and Services

Choose to be active and become a Campus Rec member. If you're a fee-paying NIU student on the DeKalb campus, you're automatically a Campus Rec member for the current semester.

Benefits

As a Campus Rec member, you'll get access to the Student Recreation Center, Chick Evans Field House, Outdoor Recreation Sports Complex, plus Gilbert and New Res Hall Fitness Rooms. Within those facilities, all members can use:

  • Equipment in Cardio and Strength Training Rooms
  • Racquetball/wallyball courts
  • Multipurpose courts
  • Outdoor Fields
  • Locker rooms with dry saunas
  • Indoor tracks
  • Sports equipment check-out
  • Additional programs and services (some at additional cost)
  • Gabel Hall pool for open and lap swimming!

NIU Faculty and Staff memberships also include:

  • Group Fitness Classes
  • Personal Training Consultation
  • One group cardio equipment orientation*
  • One group strength training session*
  • One group nutrition session*

*As available. Register in advance online or in person at the Student Recreation Center.

Special Services

Locker rooms, lockers, sauna and towel services are available.

Special Passes

  • Pool passes for open and lap swimming are available for non-members.
  • You can sponsor a maximum of two guests per day. Guest passes can be purchased at the Student Recreation Center Service Counter and are valid for the date on which they are purchased.

Parking Passes

Parking passes are available for purchase for Campus Recreation Members (excluding on-campus students) for $25.00. The permit allows parking in lots 15E, H, and Stadium Drive East. The parking pass will expire at the end of your current membership. Passes can be purchased at the Student Recreation Center Member Services Desk.

Facility Tours

You're invited to tour Campus Recreation facilities during all open building hours. For Student Recreation Center tours, stop by the service counter located inside the front door of the Student Recreation Center. For tours of the Chick Evans Field House, stop by the field house service counter on the south side of the facility.

FitWell is a collaboration between the College of Education's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KNPE) and University Recreation and Wellness that allows you to work out in a variety of locations and includes many perks.

FitWell is available to:

  • Alumni
  • Retirees
  • Community
  • Dependents
