Student Life

Fire up your Social Life!

There’s always something going on at Northern Illinois University’s campus: Jimmy Eat World playing at the Convocation Center, the Huskie Football Stadium roaring after a touchdown, or even just students tossing a Frisbee at a dorm grill-out.

NIU offers 36 social greek organizations and over 200 student-led clubs to help individuals get involved in the group of their choice.  These clubs provide opportunities in music performance, team sport participation, volunteering, and many other areas.

In addition to our intramural club sports, NIU competes in 17 different NCAA Division I sports in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).  Huskies can attend all games to cheer on their team for free with student I.D.

Student services are offered directly on campus, including a healthcare clinic and pharmacy, childcare center, diversity resource center, career advising office, and several athletic centers.

Whether you’re into hockey or history, campus life is here to promote a local community, create new experiences, and expand upon the many talents and achievements of students, faculty, and staff.
