NOTE: Encumbrances, holds from Bursar’s etc., are the responsibility of the student and must be cleared BEFORE priority or regular registration can take place.

Priority Registration

Students who are eligible for services through CAAR may receive priority registration privileges each semester they are enrolled in the university.

Students who use priority registration through CAAR will be scheduled into the courses they select before any other students. Once open registration begins, priority registration is not available.

To receive priority registration, students MUST submit their completed registration form to the CAAR office. Students are notified by CAAR via the student newsletters of each semester's priority registration deadline date.

For students who utilize sign language interpreters, priority registration is REQUIRED to guarantee scheduling interpreters.

Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of priority registration for the following reasons:

  1. To enhance your opportunity to get the most appropriate classes and class schedule for meeting your accommodation requests.
  2. To enable you to contact instructors before classes start to discuss your accommodation needs and request a course syllabus so you can get a head start on readings, assignments, etc.
  3. To be able to order taped textbooks and other materials in adapted media in advance so you have all the necessary materials prior to the first day of classes.
  4. To plan a schedule that allows you to arrange your classes in the most easily accessible locations to ensure appropriate travel times, particularly if you intend to use extended test-taking time, and/or need ample time to get from one class to another.
  5. To allow you a head start on learning specific class locations and to get route training if necessary.
