Request for Partial Reduction of Fees

Students who are enrolled for courses which require their absence from the NIU DeKalb campus for the entire semester may be eligible to receive a reduction of general student fees charged for on-campus courses.  The reduction includes 3 fees ONLY: the Activity Fee, Athletic Fee, and Services Fee (click here for a detailed description of all university fees).

To qualify, students must fulfill ALL of the below specifications:

  • ALL of the student's courses of study must be more than 15 miles from the NIU DeKalb campus.
  • The student's address must be more than 15 miles from the NIU DeKalb campus.
  • The student has not utilized the various services related to the above listed fees.
  • The Adobe Acrobat icon Request for Partial Reduction of Fees Form (pdf) must be turned in to the Bursar’s Office within the first 15 calendar days of the term beginning with the first regularly scheduled class day (5 days for Summer Session).

Note:  If a late payment fee has been applied to the student's financial account before any reduction has occurred, then the late payment fee will be reduced.
