Make a Payment

Payment is due by the payment due date whether or not a bill has been received. Students may always check their account balance information by accessing the online account through WebConnect or by phone at (815) 753-1878.


Types of payments:

  • Cash or Check: Please make all checks payable to NIU and include the student's name and account number. (Checks returned as unpaid by your bank are subject to a service charge of $25.00. After one check is returned, check payment priviledges may be suspended.)

  • Credit Card, Debit Card, or Electronic Check: Only American Express, Discover, and MasterCard are accepted at NIU. Payments can be made via the Internet or the telephone only. A convenience fee will be charged for this service.
    Credit cards accepted

  • Personal Internet Banking: Paying bills online is a great way to manage your finances. No more need for stamps or envelopes. Contact your bank to set up this option. Process Personal Internet Banking payments to:

    (Include the student's name and ZID number for processing.)

Where to make payments:

  • In Person: Payments can be made at the Bursar Office in Swen Parson Hall, Room 235 during regular business hours.

  • Internet: Select make a payment. When the "E-Pay Welcome" page comes, up click-on the Student Account link and follow the simple directions to complete the transaction.

  • Telephone: Dial (815) 753-1885 and follow the prompts.

  • By Mail: Allow at least 7 days for mail delivery and processing. Send only the payment and remittance slip in the envelope provided to:

  • Drop Box: The Office of Bursar has two drop boxes: One is located in the lobby across from the main desk in Holmes Student Center while the other is on the wall to the left of the main entrance of the Bursar's Office in Swen Parson Hall, Room 235.

    For drop box payments, please be sure that your check and remittance slip is in a sealed envelope.
