Make a Payment

Payment is due by the payment due date whether or not a bill has been received. Students may always check their account balance information by accessing the online account through MyNIU.

Types of Payments:

  • Cash or Check: Please make all checks payable to NIU and include the student's name and account number. (Checks returned as unpaid by your bank are subject to a service charge of $25.00.)

  • Online Payment (via MyNIU):
    • Credit Card, Debit Card: American Express, Discover, and MasterCard payments will be accepted and a 2.4% convenience fee will be charged for this service.
    • Electronic Check: E-check payments can be made online via the student's MyNIU account with no convenience fee.

      Credit cards accepted

  • Personal Internet Banking: Paying bills online is a great way to manage your finances. No more need for stamps or envelopes. Contact your bank to set up this option. Process Personal Internet Banking payments to:

    (Include the student's name and 8-Digit Student ID for processing.)

  • Wire Transfers: Please contact Treasury Operations within the Division of Finance and Facilities.

Where to make payments:

  • In Person: Payments can be made at the Bursar Office in Swen Parson Hall, Room 235 during regular business hours.

  • By Mail: Allow at least 7 days for mail delivery and processing. Print the 8-Digit Student ID in the memo section of the check and send to:

  • Drop Box: The Office of Bursar has two drop boxes: One is located just to the left of the Hotel desk on the second floor of the Holmes Student Center while the other is on the wall to the left of the main entrance of the Bursar's Office in Swen Parson Hall, Room 235.

    For drop box payments, please be sure that your 8-Digit Student ID is written in the memo section of the check and is in a sealed envelope.
