Ceremonial Shan Lao sword in silver sheath from Luang Prabang, Laos. Formerly owned by the King of Northern Laos, Nineteenth century. Elephant ivory, sheet silver, steel, wool and cotton rope binding. Repoussee design of animals each in an oval medallion. Sheath has red cord wound around it near the sword handle.
