In 2010, extensive surveys and focus groups were conducted with faculty, staff, students, alumni, guidance counselors, parents and prospective students. Over 2,000 people provided their opinions about what it is that differentiates NIU from other colleges and universities.
A new direction for our communications and marketing efforts has emerged as a result of this research. All of the groups surveyed preferred the phrase “Learning Today. Leading Tomorrow.” to describe their NIU experience.
This new tagline will focus the university’s marketing and communications in 2011 and will serve to guide the development of a new university logo, communications and marketing program that will begin next fall. The goal is to provide our current students, future students and alumni with a common language they can use to describe their diverse NIU experiences that shape their lives.
