Creating a Smart View

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.
    Click Gradecenter
  3. Click Manage from the Action Bar of the Grade Center.

  4. Click Smart Views from the Manage dropdown listing.

  5. Click the Add Smart View button.

  6. Enter a Smart View Name (required) and Description (optional).

  7. Choose a Type of View and setup the appropriate selection criteria.

    Note:
    The Select Criteria options will change depending upon the Type of View chosen.

    View Types

    • Group – use this view to examine specific Groups to investigate.
    • Benchmark – use this view to select users based on their performance on a specific item.
    • Focus – easily look into individual users in more detail with this view.
    • Investigate – a more powerful version of the Benchmark option as multiple criteria can be created.

  8. Set the Filter option.

    • Columns used in Criteria – only the columns used in the Select Criteria area will be shown.
    • All columns – this option includes all columns within the Grade Center.
    • None (show user information only) – only shows the user information and no other columns.
    • All columns which are shown to users – displays all columns which are visible to students.
    • All columns which are hidden from users – shows all columns which are hidden from users.
    • Selected Columns Only – allows for the selection of the columns to display.
    • Selected Categories Only – if Faculty use categories, they can select the category of columns to display. 
    • Selected Grading Periods Only – Faculty can select a grading period (if used) and the associated columns will be displayed.
  9. Click the Submit button to create the Smart View.
  10. Submit

    Note: A Success message is displayed and the Smart View is created.

    Viewing the Results of a Smart View

    Note: To view the results of a Smart View, click on its title.

Modifying a Smart View

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.

  3. Click Manage from the Action Bar of the Grade Center.

  4. Click Smart Views from the Manage dropdown listing.

  5. Find the Smart View to edit and click the Modify button.

  6. Edit the Smart View information and Selection Criteria as needed.Modify
  7. Click the Submit button to save the changes.

    Note: A Success message is displayed and the Smart View has been updated.

Deleting a Smart View

  1. Click the Control Panel button on the left side of the screen in your Course homepage.

  2. Under Assessment, click Grade Center.
    Click Gradecenter
  3. Click Manage from the Action Bar of the Grade Center.

  4. Click Smart Views from the Manage dropdown listing.

  5. Find the Smart View to remove and click the Remove button.

  6. Click OK to confirm deletion of the Smart View.

    Note: The Smart View is removed from the listing.
