Managing Content

Files or folders in the Blackboard Content Collection can be copied to a different location, can be moved, or removed from the system altogether.

Copying Content

When you copy a file or folder to a different location, you create an exact replica of that file or folder. The name of the file or folder will remain the same. If there is a copy of a file or folder with the same name in the copy location, you will be prompted to overwrite the existing file or folder.

Use the following steps to copy a file or folder:

  1. Navigate to the folder that has the file or folder which you would like to copy.
  2. Put a check mark next to the file or folder that you are copying. You can select more than one item at a time. Click "Copy."

Select the files to copy and click on Copy.
  3. On the "Copy Content" page, click on "Browse" to select the new location of the files.

    Select the copy location.
  4. In the "Select Folder" window that will open, locate a folder where you would like to place a copy of the files. Select the radio button to the left of that folder and click "Submit."

Select the folder where you are copying files.
  5. You can see the new location in the Destination bar. Click "Submit" to copy the files to that destination. You can choose the overwrite option if you think the destination folder may already contain files with the same name.

Click Submit to copy the files.
  6. You can now find the files in the new location.

Files can be found in the new location.

Moving Content

When you move files or folders, you remove them from their current location and place them into the destination folder.

You need to have the Read and Remove permissions on the files you are moving. And to place the files into a different folder, you need the Write permissions on the destination folder.

The steps for moving content in the Blackboard Content Collection is very similar to the copy process.

  1. Navigate to the folder that has the file or folder which you would like to move.
  2. Put a check mark next to the file or folder that you are moving. You can select more than one item at a time. Click "Move."

Select the files to move and click on Move.
  3. On the "Move Content" page, click on "Browse" to select the new location of the files.

    Select the new location.
  4. In the "Select Folder" window that will open, locate a folder where you would like to place the files. Select the radio button to the left of that folder and click "Submit."

Select the folder where you are moving files.
  5. You can see the new location in the Destination bar. Click "Submit" to move the files to that destination. You can choose the overwrite option if you think the destination folder may already contain files with the same name.

Click Submit to move the files.
  6. You can now find the files in the new location.

Files can be found in the new location.

Removing Content

When you remove files or folders, you delete them from the Blackboard Content Collection.

To remove content, use the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the folder that has the file or folder which you would like to remove.
