Zach is a Senior Music Education major at Northern Illinois. Zach was a member of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps hornline where he performed on trumpet. Zach enjoys marching band and teaches all around the state of Illinois and is actively involved with the marching arts. Someday Zach hopes to teach at the World Class DCI level. Zach’s favorite color is Kelly Green.
Zach has been fortunate enough to learn from Dr. Mark Ponzo, Dr. Ronnie Wooten, Dr. Thomas Bough, Stephen Gulledge, Dr. Eric Johnson, Chris Barnum, Scott-Lee Atchison, Drew Shanefield, 2003 Illinois State Teacher of the Year recipient David Morrison, and countless clinicians during his time as a student. His teachers have instilled him with a passion and fire for music throughout his life. Zach loves all genres of music and actively listens to and performs a wide variety of music.
Zach has been in the Northern Illinois University Huskie Marching band for five years with this being his second as a Drum Major. In his five years in the Huskie Marching Band Zach has been a member of the trumpet section, an UG for the trumpet section, and a two year Drum Major. Zach’s two favorite parts of the Huskie Marching Band are gamedays and the people he has gotten to meet along the way (the bowl games are a nice plus, though!).
