Pep Band

The NIU Pep Band contributes to the Huskies’ home court advantage by playing upbeat, popular music to energize the team and the crowd. Members of Pep Band receive academic credit for participation in both fall and spring semesters.

Fall Pep Band

The Fall Pep Band, formerly called "Huskie Volleyball Band," debuted during the 1998 fall season. The Fall Pep Band is honored to perform at home matches of the Women's Volleyball team and support them in their quest for another successful season. In addition, the Fall Pep Band provides the home court advantage for the pre-season basketball games. Fall Pep Band has only four rehearsals over the entire semester.

Spring Pep Band

The Spring Pep Band plays at all Men’s and Women’s home basketball games, and provides both support for the team and entertainment for the crowd. The Spring Pep Band also travels to any post-season tournaments. Membership in the Spring Pep Band is separate from the Fall Pep Band. Students can participate in one or both as they choose.

Become a member

Membership in the Pep Band is open to all NIU students who have high school instrumental experience, but an audition is required for new members. The Huskie Pep Bands are under the direction of Joshua Harris. The Huskie Pep Bands are official ensembles of the School of Music.
