Join us for a roundtable discussion featuring artists Regina José Galindo, Amina Ross, Joseph Ravens, Roberto Sifuentes, Lisa Vinebaum, and others addressing socially driven projects, forms of spectatorship and public engagement. Hosted at the DFBRL8R Gallery in Chicago, dedicated to ephemeral and time based artistic practices. Discussion begins at 2 p.m., afterward enjoy dinner at Latin Patio restaurant featuring Guatemalan cuisine.

Hyde Park Arts Center and University of Chicago
Spend the day in Hyde Park and the University of Chicago campus. Visit the Hyde Park Arts Center for the exhibition Percariat featuring artists whose practice responds to identity, social issues, and activism. Enjoy lunch in the University of Chicago’s Quadrangle Club or Bartlett dining commons before discovering all that the University has to offer on your own. You can decide to visit the Oriental Institute’s exhibitions concerning threatened heritage sites, take time to see the Smart Museum’s Classicism exhibition, take in the Booth School of Business’s public art collection, or maybe visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House or browse the Seminary Co-op 57th Street bookstore. End your day with a private tour at the Stony Island Arts Bank, a hybrid gallery, archive, library, and community center managed by the Rebuild Foundation organized by Chicago artist Theaster Gates.

Capitol Steps at the MAC and Benedictine University’s Komechak Art Gallery
Join us for a must-see production that puts politics and scandal to music at the McAnnich Arts Center. Capitol Steps uses song parodies and original sketches to satirize the comedic political situations of our times with plenty of great new material. Take time before the show starts to view Mirror Face in the Cleve Carney Art Gallery. Before we arrive at the College of DuPage we’ll visit Benedictine University’s campus gallery for the collages and drawings of Jake Fernandez. You can also view the public art collection on display in the Goodwin Hall of Business or visit the award-wining Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum on campus.
