Associate Professor Mary Quinlan is a specialist in the Italian Renaissance and received her Ph.D. in Art History at the University of Chicago. She has published and lectured on relations between Italian Renaissance poetry and the visual arts, as well as on relations between Renaissance astronomy, astrology, art and poetry. Her articles have appeared in the Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institute, Renaissance Quarterly, the Journal of Neo-Latin Studies, and ISIS: The Journal of the History of Science and Its Cultural Influences. Professor Quinlan was Harper Fellow in the Division of the Humanities at the University of Chicago. She has held fellowships and grants from the American Council of Learned Societies, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Mellon Foundation. She is currently working on a book on astrological imagery in the Italian Renaissance. She has studied in England, France, and Italy, and also translates Latin Poetry. Professor Quinlan teaches courses in the introduction to art, the survey of art history from medieval through baroque, and upper level and graduate courses in Italian Renaissance art. |
