SPECIAL DISTINCTIONS

In 1998, I was awarded the prestigious Presidential Research Professorship at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, a four year award, in recognition of my research and creative contributions on a national scale, to the field of metalwork and jewelry.

Two pieces of mine were purchased for The Johnson Wax Collection, "Objects: USA," which toured the United States for three years, and Europe (Belgium, England, France, Germany, Italy,
Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland) for two years.

Several of my metal topped wood boxes were purchased by the State of Illinois and presented by the Governor of Illinois to dignitaries throughout Japan, China, and South Korea as official gifts from the people of Illinois.

Several of my etched and electroformed metal plates were purchased by the Amoco Corporation for presentation to officials in China, including the Premier and the Vice-Premier of China.

A collaborative piece of mine and my wife's was one of only 54 pieces selected from work by crafts people throughout the United States, and North and South America, by the National Steering Committee of the Year of American Craft, for inclusion in The Year of American Craft Desk Diary 1993.
