High school students interested in Northern Illinois University are encouraged to begin the admissions process in the early fall of their senior year. A high school student who does not meet the university's admissions criteria, but is close, can write a letter of petition for review of their application status. Interested persons should contact the Office of Admissions at (815) 753-0446, to garner further information. The School of Art and Design welcomes visits by prospective students who wish to discuss the art program at Northern with an advisor and see the School of Art and Design facilities. Interested students may arrange visits by contacting Stephanie Sailer, the School of Art and Design Recruitment Officer, at (815) 753-1473. The School of Art and Design does not have special undergraduate admissions requirements except as noted below.
