OUR HISTORY:

Northern Illinois University's Anthropology Museum was founded in 1965. The mission is to collect, preserve, research and exhibit artifacts of human cultures. These exhibits are intended to foster an understanding and appreciation - among students on campus and members of the surrounding communities - for the diversity of human cultures. The collection continues to grow in size and quality with the aim of providing two types of materials - those that are suitable for use in educational settings and those to be preserved for exhibition and loan.
