B.A. Anthropology, 2013 - California State University, Dominguez Hills
Q. Where is your study area located? The US and Cambodia
Q. What is your focus of research? Cultural Anthropology. I am interested in Khmer (Cambodian) cultural maintenance and transmission in communities in the U.S.A. and Cambodia, especially through the use of performing arts (dance, music, shadow theater) and cultural events/venues (festivals, culture shows, parades, and museums).
Q.Why did you choose NIU? I chose NIU because of it's excellent faculty in the Anthropology Department, the resources in the Anthropology Department and in the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, and for its close proximity to Chicago which has an established Cambodian community.
Q. Who is your advisor? Dr. Ledgerwood is my advisor. I chose to work with her because of her expertise on Cambodian culture, and history, both in Cambodia and the U.S.A. I hope to learn a lot from her knowledge and many experiences in this line of research.
