Alumni Association Announces 2008 Award Recipients
Every year the Alumni Association recognizes the achievements of outstanding alumni. Recipients are selected based on outstanding professional and personal successes, as well as involvement in civic, cultural or charitable activities. "NIU alumni have gone on to distinguish themselves and Northern in countless ways," explains Pat Anderson, director of Alumni Relations. "Our Alumni Awards Program seeks to recognize some of those outstanding individuals who have gone out and achieved great success in their personal and professional lives." Award recipients were recognized at a private reception and dinner in April.

Login for events and information!
The NIU Alumni Association is excited to announce a new way to register for events and programs. From now on, you will be asked to "Login" when registering for alumni events and programs. This helps you to keep track of the events that you have attended and makes the registration form a breeze. If you are an NIU alum, all you have to do is click on "first time login", search for your information and you'll be prompted to create a username and password. If you are a friend of the university, you will be able to create a guest account to register for events. If you'd like to create a permanent account, please contact our office at alums@niu.edu.

Campus Tragedy
The entire NIU family suffered a tremendous loss this month. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni have come together to face our darkest hour. We have demonstrated courage and compassion and have witnessed tremendous outpourings of sympathy from the community, nation, and the world. Thank you for your kindness and continued support of NIU. Together we will get through this. Forward, together forward.

NIU is Printing an Alumni Directory!
The Alumni Association is working on updating alumni information for inclusion in the 2008 Alumni Directory. This is the first time in over 10 years that the university has published a printed directory. Please update your information so you can be included in this valuable resource. Over the next several weeks you will be receiving emails and telephone calls from university representatives requesting that you update your information.
