Online Tutorial on Academic Integrity

This tutorial is intended for self-paced learning by students in all disciplines. The objectives of this tutorial are to:

•  increase students' awareness of cheating and plagiarism, and their consequences,
offer strategies to help students avoid academic dishonesty situations and protect themselves,
provide faculty with an educational resource to supplement their classroom discussions on academic dishonesty issues.

The purpose of the tutorial is to promote academic integrity and not to cover university policies and procedures on academic dishonesty or academic dishonesty. Students are requested to use the tutorial for educational purposes only, and consult their course instructors and appropriate university personnel for clarifications on university policies and procedures on academic dishonesty-related issues. The tutorial is not meant to be a comprehensive resource on academic integrity but is intended only to be a supplementary resource for self-paced learning purposes.

The information presented in the tutorial has been compiled from various sources including existing literature, online resources, and contributions from faculty, staff, and students at Northern Illinois University.
