Through their work, physical therapists have the rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference in the quality of peoples' lives. Physical therapists work in a wide range of settings including:

  • Acute care and rehabilitation hospitals
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Skilled nursing facilities
  • Homes
  • Schools
  • Athletics facilities and
  • Universities, to name a few.

In these diverse settings, physical therapist perform such diverse Activities and treatments as

  • Assisting people with low back pain to return to daily Activities
  • Providing exercise programs and postural training to prevent musculoskeletal problems in pregnant women
  • Keeping Olympic athletes at peak performance through injury prevention and treatment
  • Participating as team members in highly specialized areas such as burn units, transplant units and neonatal intensive care units
  • Assisting the elderly to live independently in the community
