Prospective students should first contact the NIU Office of Admissions for information about academic programs and to talk with an Admissions Counselor. Newly admitted students will be invited to participate in the New Student Orientation Programs where they will learn about NIU and meet with an academic advisor to discuss courses and registration.
Currently enrolled students should contact their major college or department for academic advising before registering for courses each semester. Students who are "undecided-any college" who have earned under 30 hours are required to meet with an advisor in the Academic Advising Center before registering for classes each term.
For Summer 2008 courses only, students can use the Course Finder to see course listings and develop a rough draft of their schedule before logging into WebConnect to actually register for courses.
For Fall 2008, students will begin using MyNIU a state-of-the-art Web-based Student Administration System for a variety of services: Course Selection, Financial Aid, Registration, Grades, Degree Progress, and Personal Information.
