The Northern Illinois University Transfer Center strives to provide outstanding service in a professional and friendly manner.

We serve our students, community college colleagues and NIU community in a team-oriented environment that is first and foremost student-centered.

Important Information

Admission Requirements:

  • Transfer students must have a minimum of 24 transferable semester hours and a 2.50 minimum cumulative G.P.A. from all colleges attended and be in good academic standing at the last college attended.
  • Transfer students with less than 24 transferable semester hours must also meet freshman admission criteria.

Compact Benefits

Graduates of an Illinois Public Community College who have earned an A.A. or A.S. degree are granted admission to the university, junior standing, and all university general education requirements are considered complete.
