Students who are admissible to both Northern Illinois University and to the participating community college are eligible to benefit from the dual admissions program. Visit the NIU Admissions Homepage for information on admission criteria. Students must indicate an intention to participate in this agreement by signing a statement of intent before enrolling in classes at Northern Illinois University. This agreement admits students to Northern Illinois University, not to a specific major. Some majors are limited admissions.
All students participating in the dual admissions program are subject to the same admissions, matriculation, and degree requirements governing all other Northern Illinois University students.
Students are eligible for the dual admissions program as long as satisfactory academic progress is maintained at the participating community college. Students eligibility for continued study at either Northern Illinois University or the participating community college will be governed by each institution’s policies on enrollment of probationary, dismissed, and reentering students. Once students earn an A.A. or A.S. degree they are no longer eligible for dual admission.
Advisors at the participating community college and at Northern Illinois University are available to assist students in choosing classes that are appropriate for their long-term educational goals.
