Accelerated Law Degree program
NIU offers an accelerated law program for high-achieving students. This unique opportunity removes one full year of law school—a savings of both time and money—from students pursuing a B.S. or a B.A. in Political Science, followed by a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
The accelerated JD program, from start to finish, will take six years to complete instead of the normal seven. This translates to a savings of nearly $35,000!
Interested students can apply to the College of Law during their junior year. Students accepted to the accelerated JD program begin first-year law classes their senior year.
Both current NIU undergraduate students and transfer students majoring in political science with a politics emphasis are eligible to participate in the Accelerated Law Degree program.
