Law Notes:

    1. Students may take fewer than 12 hours with special permission.
    2. All students must take Introduction to Lawyering Skills (LAW 720) during Year 5.
    3. All students must take Professional Responsibility (LAW 735), participate in a Clinic or Externship, and satisfy an upper-division writing requirement prior to graduation.

Political Science Notes:

    1. Foreign language is required for the B.A. degree. Previous foreign language background may reduce or fulfill this requirement; please consult the NIU catalog for more information. B.A. students must also fulfill the core competency requirement in mathematics. A combination of math, statistics, and computer science courses are required for the B.S. degree; please consult the NIU catalog.
    2. The choice of POLS 100 or 150 may affect the selection of upper-level courses. Consult catalog for course descriptions. The choice of POLS 200/300-level elective depends upon the emphasis chosen.
    3. Students who are pursuing a B.A. in the public administration and service emphasis should complete STAT 208 in the science area of distributive studies.
    4. Two of these courses are required.
