Deirdre “Dee” BattagliaBattaglia is the first woman to head an all-male maximum-security prison in Illinois. As warden of the Statesville Correctional Center in Joliet, she oversees 3,000 inmates, 1,200 staffers and three satellite facilities. Previously, Battaglia served as assistant warden at Dwight Correctional Center, a downstate women's prison, and she spent 10 years working at Statesville as a casework supervisor before being promoted to Dwight.
