The Filipino-American Association of Northern Illinois is holding a fundraiser to assist with disaster relief efforts in response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan which hit central Philippines on November 8, 2013. It is estimated that thousands of lives were lost and 600,000 people are now homeless. This is an unprecedented calamity and the immediate needs are for survival - food, medicine, and shelter. We are all saddened by the hardships being experienced by the Filipino people and want to do all we can to help.
Please join us for a simple Filipino meal. We are asking for your help with a tax-deductible donation to the American Red Cross that will be earmarked for Philippine Relief. Your generosity and prayers will reach the people who are most in need.
If you are unable to attend our fundraiser, please send your check payable to the American Red Cross (write on memo line: Philippine Relief) to Evelina Jose Cichy, 2944 Country Club Lane, DeKalb, IL 60115. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Philippine Relief.
We are deeply grateful for your generosity and concern. It is difficult to imagine the devastation and suffering caused by Typhoon Haiyan and the process of rebuilding lives and homes will take years. The response of concern and caring from our community has been overwhelming and comforting to the Filipino-American community. We hope to see you on Nov. 24. Please contact me if you have any questions.
All proceeds will go to the Philippine Red Cross to help relief efforts in the Philippines.
