A
4,000-year-old gourd fragment (above photos) bears an archaic
image of the Staff God,
the principal deity in South America during thousands of years.
It was found at a looted cemetery along the coast of Peru,
in what appears to have been the ancestral home of Andean civilization
that culminated 3,500 years later in the Inca.
