Bone-chemistry analysis of this Neandertal jawbone demonstrates that the Neandertals were high-level carnivores with adept hunting skills. The fossil, found at the Vindija cave site in Croatia, was previously directly dated to 28,000 years ago, representing the latest date ever recorded for Neandertal fossils.
