DeKALB, Ill -- James Young, 52, of St. Charles, has bee named the Chair of the NIU Department of Accountancy in the NIU College of Business.
The program has an international reputation, ranked 25 th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report and among the top 10 for several years by the Public Accounting Report. The program graduates about 200 undergraduate and 100 master’s degree students each year, many of whom go on to work at top tier accounting firms and corporations throughout Chicagoland.
Young previously taught at George Mason University, Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University. He came to NIU in 2000 and took over as director of the school’s Master’s in Taxation program in 2001. In that role, Young has earned a reputation as an outstanding teacher and leader.
He succeeds Greg Carnes who left NIU to become Dean of the College of Business at Lipscomb University in Memphis, Tenn.
