DeKalb — This is the time of year when giving to others seems to matter most. It is a human story poignantly told in a 1932 children’s play, “A Satisfactory Santa,” which takes place during the Depression.
Children in Marti Brown’s fifth-grade class from Littlejohn Elementary School will present this short play at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Milan One-Room Schoolhouse on the campus of Northern Illinois University.
All are invited to see the play during the school’s Holiday Open House. Come celebrate the spirit of the season, eat holiday sweets and sing carols.
The stories of three professors also will be read in as part of the Honoring Teachers program, sponsored by the NIU Blackwell History of Education Museum, which recognizes the lives of service and records the untold stories of those who teach.
The Milan Schoolhouse is located on Annie Glidden Road near the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center. Parking is available behind the school. For more information, call (815) 753-1236.
