DeKALB, Ill. – Officials from Georgetown University’s Advanced Vehicle Development program in Washington D.C. announced today that they have canceled a visit by their fuel cell bus to Northern Illinois University due to mechanical problems.
NIU was to have played host to a series of events, April 23-27, showcasing the bus (which runs on electricity created by fuel cells), as well as the university’s programs in fuel cell development. Plans are being made to reschedule the visit, perhaps as early as next fall.
“We are very disappointed at the cancellation of this event,” said CEET Dean Promod Vohra. “However, we remain excited at the potential this technology holds for helping reduce reliance upon petroleum products and we look forward to continuing our research efforts aimed at making that a reality.”
