Student leadership awards program
named for late student leader
DeKALB, Ill. – Former NIU student leader and 2000 alum, the late Kevin D. Knight, will be honored during a Homecoming weekend reception hosted by NIU’s Division of Student Affairs.
NIU President John Peters and Vice President for Student Affairs Brian Hemphill will honor Knight’s memory and his legacy of leadership by announcing the naming of the Kevin D. Knight Student Leadership Awards Program. Current and alumni student leaders, as well as present and former Student Affairs staff members, will attend the event.
While a student, Knight held a variety of campus leadership positions, including vice president of the Student Association, and was involved in numerous student organizations, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and NAACP. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2004.
The reception will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in the second-floor foyer of Altgeld Hall. For additional information contact Dr. Eileen Sullivan, (815)753-1389 or esullivan@niu.edu.
