Australian ambassador's visit postponed

 

DeKALB -- Northern Illinois University President John Peters announced today that the Honorable Michael Thawley, Australian Ambassador to the United States, has had to postpone his plans to speak on campus Feb. 3.

 

Thawley’s absence is due to ongoing trade negotiations between the United States and Australia. Those talks were expected to be completed this week but have been extended, making a visit impossible at this time.

 

The ambassador was to have been the inaugural speaker in the Presidential Public Policy Lecture Series and has pledged to fulfill that obligation at a later date.
