DeKalb, Ill. — Northern Illinois University has selected Barbara Rice, administrative aide, and Rose Miller, human resource officer, to serve as ambassadors for the “2004 Biennial Conference for Women – Women in Progress” special event.
More than 60 Illinois women were chosen to serve on the advisory board.
Meetings have been held in Champaign, Ill., to discuss promoting this year’s conference scheduled for April 8 and 9. The ambassadors will be honored for their contributions during the two-day conference.
The Biennial Conference for Women is the largest, longest-running and one of the most prestigious women’s conferences in the United States. More than 8,000 women are expected to attend the 2004 Biennial Conference for Women at the University of Illinois’ Assembly Hall. Keynote speakers include “The View” co-host Star Jones, CNBC financial expert Suze Orman, New York Times best-selling author David Baldacci and CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien.
“It is an honor to be chosen as an ambassador to this celebrated conference,” Rice said. “I attended the Biennial Conference for Women in 2000 as well as 2002, and both events were fresh, down-to-earth and informative. I came away revitalized with an enhanced perspective on life.”
“It has been a privilege to serve on the advisory board with such a dynamic group of women to help promote this year’s conference.” Miller said. “I look forward to the event with much enthusiasm.”
